Multibeam Sonar System
Our primary survey tool is a high resolution Multibeam Echo Sounder (MBES). Maritime Survey Services Ltd. has two MBES; an R2Sonic 2026 and a Kongsberg EM2040p MKII.
The R2Sonic 2026 has the ability to achieve seafloor coverage down to 800m and has an adjustable frequency (170 kHz to 450 kHz) and swath width (10° to 160°). The 2026 is also roll & pitch stabilized, providing high quality data.
The Kongsberg EM 2040p MKII has the ability to achieve seafloor coverage down to 600m and has an operational frequency (200 kHz/300 kHz/400 kHz) and swath width up to 170° (200/300 kHz). The 2040P MKII is also roll, pitch & yaw stabilized, providing high quality data.
Maritime Survey Services Ltd. has two Applanix POS MV GNSS systems. A POS MV320 and POS MV Wavemaster II.
Each multibeam system is capable of collecting bathymetric and backscatter data and utilizes a Valeport/AML sound velocity sensor/profiler for accurate sound speed readings.
